AN application has been submitted to demolish two partially completed Winsford bungalows and replace them with two detached dormer bungalows, on a site which neighbours had branded an ‘eyesore’.

The full planning application at 148 Chester Road, was made by Hough Architecture, Sandbach, on behalf of Wark Homes, Macclesfield.

The application includes the removal of the partly completed house on the 631 sq metre site and for it to be replaced by two three bedroom houses and a total of six car parking spaces.

A design and access statement details that the proposed scheme, which forms the planning application, seeks to address the deteriorating residential site and the partially completed conversion of a dormer bungalow into two dwellings in a semi-detached configuration, which was approved by a separate application in 2007.

The site is also currently subject to a notice to complete by Cheshire West and Chester Council which was issued last year after residents complained about its state.

It was originally bought by a developer in 2005, who then secured planning permission to demolish the crumbling building and build several houses in its place.

The work the developer was given approval for was started, but it was put on hold when the developer ran out of money and was subsequently sold to a new owner with intentions to finish the work.

The house was then left abandoned among the residential road, to the dismay of many residents.

Winsford Over and Verdin councillor Mike Baynham welcomed the new application saying: “I am very happy to see the application that finally these eyesore homes will be demolished because it has been a blight for residents on Chester Road. The building of two new homes is definitely the way forward.”

The two new dwellings will have a bathroom/cloakroom, study or bedroom, lounge with potential to become a bedroom, kitchen living/lounge on the ground floor and two bedrooms and bathroom on the first floor.

The plan envisages a garage to the front of the site which would provide a single garage to each property.

The applicant is also seeking the open up of a new entrance to the site off the shared access road leading to Whitegate Road.
