ROYAL Mail was forced to suspend deliveries three days before Christmas after a postman was assaulted in Winsford.
The service made the decision to halt post in some parts of Winsford – including the Over ward, where the incident took place on Thursday, December 21.
Royal Mail made the call to protect its employees, and deliveries resumed as normal today, December 23.
In a letter issued to residents affected, Lee Collier, Royal Mail delivery office manager, said: “We suspended deliveries to addresses in the area as a safety precaution.
“We understand this may have caused some concern especially at this busy time of year.
“Please accept our apologies for any problems this action may have caused but Royal Mail places the highest priority on the safety and security of its employees.”
Anyone affected by yesterday’s suspension of post should contact Mr Collier by calling 01606 593280, or visit the Royal Mail delivery office, in New Road.
