THE Primary Schools Permormance Tables have been published today and three schools in the Middlewich area came above the national average. 

Based on SATs results, the table shows the percentage of children at each school who met the 'expected standard'.

Wimboldsley Primary School had the best score in the region with 90 per cent, with Middlewich Primary coming on top for the schools in Middlewich with 71 per cent. 

Lostock Hall Primary School in Stockport came at the top of the table for schools in the Cheshire East Council boundary with 94 per cent.

The average score for schools in the local authority is 64 per cent, and the average for schools across England is 61 per cent. 

The list of schools in the Middlewich area is:

  1. Wimboldsley Primary School – 90 per cent
  2. Middlewich Primary School – 71 per cent
  3. St Mary’s Catholic Primary School – 65 per cent
  4. Cledford Primary School - 60 per cent
  5. Warmingham CofE Primary School – 55 per cent
  6. Byley Primary School – 50 per cent
