A MOTHER has paid tribute to her three-year-old son who ‘melted everyone’s heart’.

Olly James Emery died on Thursday, February 18, following a brave battle with a condition from birth.

Olly was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder, Non-Ketotic Hyperglycinemia (NKH) a condition which only affects around 500 people worldwide, shortly after he was born on September 10, 2012, and was initially only given 24 hours to live.

His parents, Melissa Lowe and Michael Emery have planned a ‘celebration of life’ for Wednesday, March 2 at 2.30pm at St Chad’s Church in Winsford, followed by a service at Vale Royal Crematorium, followed by the celebration at Knight’s Grange in Winsford.

Melissa said: “People with this condition don't usually live past early infancy; when Olly was diagnosed we were told that he would probably only survive a matter of weeks.

“But just like the bumblebee aerodynamically shouldn't be able to fly, Olly continued to love when all the odds were against him.

“We had three and a half amazing years with Olly who taught us all so much, he taught us what unconditional love was really about, he taught us how to be strong and taught us not to take life for granted.

“Olly was a little character who had everybody wrapped around his little finger he was a very special and is a much loved little boy he touched the hearts of everyone he met and many more that didn't get the chance but followed his story through Facebook.

“He accomplished things we never imagined possible we were told he would never laugh, cry, see or eat orally but he did and when he smiled and giggled he brightened up a room.”

Melissa told the Guardian that she never imagined that Olly would go to school, but he started at Hebden Green in September where he was ‘loved by all’.

“He was a little ladies’ man, one look and a bat of his beautiful long eyelashes he melted everyone's heart,” she added. “He loved snuggles and kisses from all of us but especially from his best friend Libby.

“He always had a way of getting what he wanted he never needed words his beautiful baby blues said all he ever needed and when they didn't work he would have a good shout and wave his pointed finger at us.”

Since the news of his death, tributes have been pouring in on Facebook.

A Facebook post from Jaimie Knight said: “No words will be able to describe what you are going through right now. Thoughts are with you and family at this time. Another star shining bright. R.I.P little man.”

Lucianna Hart also posted on Facebook: “We are so sorry for your loss. He was a truly beautiful brave special boy! Our love goes out to you all at this devastating time.”
