MIDDLEWICH youngsters have a chance to be considered for this year’s Rose Fete.

The choosing day will be held on Saturday, March 15 at the Community Centre at 2pm.

Younsters up to 18 years from Middlewich are invited to participate and decisions on roles will be made by an independent panel of local dignitaries from the community.

Carol Moore, chairperson of the Rose Fete Committee, said: “We are aware that many older children think it's 'uncool' but the Rose Fete is a community event and the associated fundraising would look incredibly good on their University and UCAS application forms.

“We would love to have many more high school and sixth form young people participate with us this year.”

There is a role for every child in the Rose Fete and the main roles on offer include rose queen and festival queen & king.

Fairy queen, rose princess & prince, rosebud, ladies in waiting, royal attendants, footmen, crown bearers, fairy and elf attendants will also be selected.

The children will be asked to attend at a number of practice sessions in preparation for the Rose Fete.

In addition, the rose queen is asked to select the charity for the year and all the children are asked to participate in fundraising events throughout the year.

The Middlewich Rose Fete is the opening event for the Middlewich FAB Festival and will take part on Saturday, June 14.
