EVER fancied picking up a bow and arrow, testing your tracking skills with a map and compass, or shinning up a climbing wall?

If you have, then Speke Hall is the place to go. This weekend, Speke is hosting ‘Game On’ – a community sports festival that’s packed full of great sporting experiences to try: from Orienteering with a course mapped out by Deeside Orienteering Club to archery courtesy of Longbow Events. There are organised cycle rides and running sessions – or maybe you want to try out golf or yoga?

Rachel Hanlon is Speke’s Sports’ Development Officer: “We’ve been working with a variety of sports clubs and organisations to bring more sport to Speke Hall, and now Speke has a really strong sports offer which we’re rolling out over the summer” says Rachel.

“We’re inviting everyone – and families in particular – to come and take part in ‘taster’ sessions so they can see whether or not they like a particular sport. There’ll be experts on hand to help - and it’s a fantastic opportunity to try something you’ve never done before.

"Don’t forget to tell us about your sporting experiences - tweet us @NTSport.

"Our disability sports’ programme is also growing, with more accessible sports such as climbing, golf, orienteering and multi- sport on offer, and we’re grateful to Sport England and Cotswold Outdoor for their support of the Speke Hall sports programme”

The event is taking place at Speke Hall, The Walk, Liverpool from Friday 7 – Sunday August 9, from 11am – 4.30pm

All sports activities are free, but normal property admission rates apply.
