A new club for mums is coming to Chester Zoo.

The zoo is to host two mother and baby coffee mornings each month, starting on Thursday, January 22.

Jon Turley, catering general manager, said: “Our animal keepers are used to welcoming new mums and babies – just look at the recent arrival of giraffe calf Zahra! And now we’re delighted to be able to welcome other mums and their new charges to our coffee mornings.

“I can’t think of many places where mums with children of similar ages can get together and share parenting tips, whilst also having views of rhinos, warthogs and Asian elephants!

"So if you’re a mum-in-waiting, or a parent with a baby or toddler, why not come along for refreshments and a friendly chat in our rather unique environment.”

The new club will be on the second and fourth Thursdays of every month, from 10am until 12noon. Mornings will be in the zoo’s Bembe Coffee Shop in its Diamond Jubilee Quarter, which is free to access.

Bembe Coffee Shop features a baby feeding station, nearby baby changing facilities and easy access from the zoo’s main car park, where parking is free.
