THE sublime sounds of British folk will find a new home this month.

Taking their ear for great trad music from Gwaenysgor to the Educate Group Stadium in Rhyl, Folk at the Hall (FATH) organisers The Record Journal will present the first two concerts of a new series from this month.

Starting on Friday, February 28 at 7.30pm, Rhuddlan country blues trio The Goat Roper Rodeo band will help launch Football and Folk which will help to assist in fundraising for Rhyl FC.

In 2019, the Goat Ropers had the distinction of supporting Hollywood actor Kiefer Sutherland on tour, and this June will join an incredible line-up at Black Deer festival in Kent including Wilco, Shooter Jennings and Robert Plant.

The band - who currently have three albums under their belts - will also return for FATH in April alongside Hannah Aldridge, daughter of Alabama Music Hall of Famer and Muscle Shoals veteran Walt Aldridge.

The same month, Rhyl FC and The Record Journal will host their second Football and Folk event on Friday 24 at 7pm, featuring FATH favourite Luke Jackson on his return to North Wales.

A spokersperson for The Record Journal said: "Luke has been playing our shows for about eight years and we're delighted to bring him back for this football and folk concert series. Part of the funds raised from this gig will go towards helping Rhyl football club secure their future. We're very much looking forward to it. "
