DAVID Walliams’ Mr Stink is among the highlights of Walton Hall and Gardens’ 2020 programme of outdoor theatre which starts May.
The park has again teamed up with Heartbreak Productions for a series of open air shows where theatre-goers can bring a picnic and cosy up with blankets.
Based on the bestseller, Mr Stink will be staged by the Leamington Spa thespians on May 29 and August 31 and is described as a touching, funny tale with a heartwarming message. It is about two restless souls who unite on a park bench – one of them a lonely 12 year old Chloe Crumb, whose mum is standing to be an MP, and the other an ostracised homeless man. Chloe’s curiosity and kindness pave the way for a friendship that takes them from live TV to Downing Street via a garden shed.
The family production is just one of a number of outdoor summer shows at Walton this year.
Heartbreak will be teaming up with the Nick Carraway Quartet for F Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby on June 19 to mark 100 years since prohibition.
Join Nick, a bond salesman in New York, as he takes you you back to the summer of 1922 when he lived next door to none other than the infamous Jay Gatsby.
Then on August 14 Heartbreak will be reimagining Brothers Grimm fairytales with magic, puppetry and music.
Tickets are from £10.95 and can be found at waltonhallgardens.co.uk/upcoming-events. Hot food and alcoholic drinks will be available on the night
