ONE of the biggest 80s celebrations is returning to the north west.

Rewind North returns to Capesthorne Hall in Macclesfield between July 31 and August 2.

Jimmy Somerville has created a big band show especially for the event on the Saturday and Wet Wet Wet close the festival on the Sunday.

It will also see performances by Billy Ocean, Bananarama, Trevor Horn Band, Nick Heyward, Roland Gift of Fine Young Cannibals, Hue And Cry, Grandmaster Flash, The Christians, Pete Wylie of The Mighty Wah and John Parr.

In a number of Rewind North exclusives, they will be joined by Thompson Twins’ Tom Bailey, Heather Small, Shalamar featuring Howard Hewett, Jeffrey Daniel and Carolyn Griffey, Nik Kershaw, Heaven 17, Go West, Altered Images, Katrina From Katrina and The Waves and China Crisis.

And in a special celebration marking 50 years since the formation of one of the world’s greatest rock bands – Queen – a full symphony orchestra will play the band's hits in a festival opener called Queen Symphonic.

Add to that Club Tropicana, a retro club in a big top, the Electro Picture Lounge where you can watch classic videos and documentaries from the era and the return of the inflatable church and silent disco and nostalgic revellers have everything they need for the ultimate 80s weekend on their doorstep.
