PETER Kay has teased fans by saying his hit TV show Phoenix Nights could get a film adaptation.
In a pre-recorded video played at a charity screening of the series, the Bolton funnyman said: “People always ask, ‘Will there be more Phoenix Nights?’ and I can now confirm there won’t — but I am thinking of a film.”
The screenings, which are showcasing the two series of the comedy, are in benefit of Cancer Research UK.
Peter joked during the appearance: “It should have been the 20th anniversary but I got the dates wrong.
“I arranged it, booked the venue, sorted the posters and then realised, I don’t think it’s been 20 years.”
Three screenings in London took place over the weekend, with further shows coming in Manchester and Blackpool in February.
Phoenix Nights aired for two series in 2001 and 2002, starring Peter as Brian Potter, the owner of the Phoenix Club.
Others who starred in the Channel 4 comedy included Dave Spikey, Neil Fitzmaurice and Paddy McGuinness.
