ORIGINAL British metalists Cloven Hoof promise a killer set at the Limelight on Thursday.

Rescheduled from March, the guys were forced to cancel due to singer Russ North's stomach operation.

But he's now fighting fit and they plan to say sorry in the only way they know how.

Expect it loud on May 31.

After the obvious set-back, it should be a good year ahead for Lee Payne and co with their live rebirth now underway.

Formed back in '79, they were theatrical souls at the beginning with the four-piece adopting pseudonyms - Water, Fire, Air and Earth.

After the release of their self-titled debut in '82, almost endless line-up changes occurred with Payne the only constant.

Albums followed but 1989 outing A Sultan's Ransom really struck a chord, still highly regarded among underground Metal fans.

Contractual difficulties caused a complete split in 1990 and it would take 10 years before Payne would try once again.

Failing to entice any previous Hoof members, Payne compiled a new band under the same banner to release Eye Of The Sun last year.

He's since brought back Russ North and Mick Powell as Hoof prepare to release Throne of Damnation and embark on summer festivals.

The band have just returned from gigs in Greece with amazing drummer Lynch Radinsky in tow.

His stunning vituoso drum solo should also be in the Crewe set.

Armana are due in support from around 9pm.

Tickets are £10
