TATA CHEMICALS EUROPE LIMITED THE ELECTRICITY GENERATING STATIONS (VARIATION OF CONSENTS) (ENGLAND AND WALES) REGULATIONS 2013 ('THE VARIATION REGULATIONS') - REGULATION 5(3) & (5) LOSTOCK SUSTAINABLE ENERGY PLANT, NORTHWICH, CHESHIRE
Notice is hereby given that TATA Chemicals Europe Limited (the 'Applicant') has made an application (the 'Variation Application') to the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (the 'Appropriate Authority') under Section 36C of The Electricity Act 1989.
On 2 October 2012, the Applicant was granted consent under Section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989 and planning permission under section 90 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 (the '2012 Consent') for an energy from waste generating station known as Lostock Sustainable Energy Plant (the 'Plant') on land at the existing Lostock Power Station, Northwich, Cheshire. This consent has been implemented as confirmed by the Local Planning Authority.
By the Variation Application, the Applicant seeks to vary the 2012 Consent to increase the power output of the Plant from the currently consented 60 megawatts to up to 90 megawatts in order to deliver higher efficiency electricity generation (the 'Proposed Development').
The Applicant has received notice under Regulation 4(6) of the Variation Regulations dated 2013 that the Appropriate Authority considers the Variation Application to be suitable for publication. Consequently, this notice is published in accordance with Regulation 5(3) & (5) of the Variation Regulations.
