No answer to educational questions over Hartford High being a faith school

I NOTE that control of the local Hartford High School has been transferred from our elected Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWAC) to the non-elected Church.

This is despite the change being opposed by Northwich and Hartford parish councils.

The school is still using the myth of ‘increased parental choice’ to justify this.

Residents of Hartford, Greenbank, Castle, Winnington and Barnton have lost the opportunity to send their child to the local, non-denominational school. They now have the ‘choice’ of three schools, two faith and one fee-paying.

Throughout the consultation, period, I have asked the school and CWAC for an educational reason for the change.

That question has never been answered, because there isn’t one.

The only conclusion to be drawn is that this change of status has been driven by political or religious forces.

I am deeply saddened that a school, which will be a major influence for thousands of local children, has been shaped in this way.

How dare the school ignore the views of the largely unelected Town Council and listen instead to the parents!

Which parents did they listen to? Only a small percentage of the total voted, and I suspect that many of them weren't even consulted.

I am strongly against so-called faith schools but there was plenty of publicity about this and the school claims to have consulted all parents. It's a pity when apathy rules.

Why should the current parents be able to have the casting vote in making such a decision?

The school was Council owned and run, and as such all Council Taxpayers should have a say, via our elected representatives.

The sooner so-called faith schools are banned outright, the better. Organised religion is little more than legalised brainwashing of those too weak to form their own opinions and beliefs.

Add to that the charade that many parents get involved in pretending to be practising Catholics so that their children can get into St Nicholas', for a self-perpetuating belief that it provides a higher standard of education (it does, but barely), then why not just bring back grammar schools and stop trying to pretend that all children are the same.

Wondering if the children from Barnton still have free transport to school now HHS is a faith school?
