New Northwich town councillor is the choice of the people

IT looks as though the electors of Witton do not agree with Clr Brian Jamieson, Points of View, Guardian, May 9.

By a margin of almost three to one, they voted for the Labour candidate rather than the Conservative who Mr Jamieson would have preferred.

While the new councillor may not have been the first choice of his colleagues, he can at least point out that he lives in Northwich and was elected. It’s called democracy.

Sadly many people do not actually believe in democracy in this country, that is why we have no say on immigration, hanging, the European Union, Incinerators etc etc. By the way I am not against immigration per say but I do feel that if they commit a imprisonable crime they should be immediately sent back to their home country. Can we have a vote on this? Of course not, we might give the wrong reply"!
