Bowled over by the cost of getting to a match

WITH the price of petrol soaring, isn’t it time the Mid-Cheshire Bowls league put in a mileage restriction on which teams can play in the league?

It is ludicrous to have teams from miles away playing in the league. A visit to Crewe requires nearly two gallons of petrol – £8-10 worth. On top of that, to get to some of the greens takes well over half an hour, requiring teams to set off well before six o’clock. It also means they do not get home before 10 o’clock at night.

May I suggest a radius be set, say 10 miles from Northwich Bull Ring, to alleviate these problems.

Perhaps the Norley League should consider a similar rule for their league too.
