MANY people in Northwich think the proposed TATA incinerator in Griffiths Road, Lostock has gone away, but this is not the case.

TATA has discharged all conditions from the approval in 2012, meaning the Lostock incinerator can proceed as proposed. TATA has made a variation application to the Secretary of State to increase the power output from 60MW to 90MW.

It has also applied to CWAC to increase the chimney size to 295ft.

Hopefully this will not be passed.

The incinerator will be the size of Wembley Stadium. Along with OWM and Dong waste processing plants, this will be one of the largest waste building processing facilities in the world.

Cheshire has sufficient recycling facilities to deal with any waste created in Cheshire. Northwich waste 9,000 tonnes p/a, CWAC waste 60,000 tonnes p/a. Where will the waste come from to feed a 600,000 tonnes p/a incinerator?

The waste will be transported by HGVs along A530 King Street and onto Griffiths Road, which is only a country lane.

There will be approximately 276 extra HGVs causing pollution and disruption, and added to any potential incinerator pollution, it will be an unpleasant place to live.

There are two schools and two nurseries within a half mile radius of the plant. Any pollution will not stop at Rudheath and Lostock, it will spread over a large area involving many villages, old people’s homes, farmland and houses.

My family has lived in Lostock Gralam for 41 years, now under the threat from the incinerator.

We must stop TATA from building this monster that will blight the lives of many people and make Northwich and the surrounding area a place where no one wants to live.
