HOW can it be possible that CWAC forces housing developers to build open spaces/play areas in their new housing developments and then wash their hands of them?

If they are forcing the developers to include these in the plans, then they should be maintaining them.

Homeowners on these new developments are forced to pay twice for maintaining open spaces/ play areas – once via their Council Tax and then via a service charge or management charge as they are sometimes known.

What makes it even worse is that anyone is allowed on these green areas/play areas, whether they are paying the service charge or not.

So my question to all these new homeowners is why should you be paying twice when anyone can use these spaces and when they get damaged, who foots the bill? Not CWAC but the unsuspecting new homeowners.

To stop this happening any longer, you need to act now as it is election year next year for all CWAC and parish councillors.

Write to your MP, CWAC councillors and parish councillors and ask them to support you and your neighbours in getting the council to take on the maintenance of all public open spaces/play areas, after all they were the ones demanding them in the first place.
