I READ in last week’s Guardian the quotes from our MP Antoinette Sandbach.

She did not criticise HS2 as such but spoke up for her constituents who would be effected.

This is the same MP who stands shoulder to shoulder with that shower of Tory rebels including such illustrious MPs as Anna Soubry.

When Ms Sandbach first popped her head up and started to vote against her own party I emailed her pointing out that her constituents voted for Brexit.

I further suggested that she should be our MP doing what the majority wants and that, instead, it would be a good idea to strongly fight to dump HS2.

In that way she would be supporting not only the majority of her constituents but the majority of people in this country who can see just how misguided it is.

HS2, like the Millennium Dome, is purely a grossly expensive political vanity project.

Its cost will far outweigh its usefulness and when it eventually appears, if it ever does, technology will have overtaken it.

Go to Crewe Heritage Centre and look at a previous white elephant called the APT, Advanced Passenger Train that also cost a fortune before being dumped.

But HS2 is different, far more destructive and far more expensive.

As for her activities as a Tory rebel, all I can say is support your constituents and not the band of rebellious Tory MPs.
