HOPEFULLY it hasn’t gone unnoticed that things are beginning to happen for Winsford after many years of neglect.

With Tiger Trailers coming to our industrial estate and investing in local jobs and training and with CWAC investing in other projects on the Winsford Industrial Estate, things are looking bright for one of our employment hubs in the town and this is alongside the great work of the Winsford 1-5 Group.

In addition there is the excellent industrial hub on Woodford Park and not forgetting the many businesses on Nat Lane.

We also have our wonderful Winsford Marina and new Town Park which is due to open soon and the shopping centre has now been brought back into public ownership which means we can proceed with much-needed improvements which the previous private owners did not bring forward.

Added to this we have many independent shops and businesses on our High Street, Delamere Street, Woodford Lane and right across our town.

There is also good news with many of our schools having greatly improved in recent times and more local parents are choosing Winsford schools for their children’s education and our Mid Cheshire College Winsford Campus now has a very bright future.

While there is still concern about the many new build houses appearing in Winsford, it must be remembered that the borough had been told by government that they had to have a five year housing supply, this meant there had to be 24,000+ new homes built by around 2030 in Cheshire West and Chester and Winsford’s share of that was 3500 by 2030.

Almost every borough and county in the UK has had to do similar so we are not alone in voicing concerns regarding the need for more GPs, infrastructure and facilities to meet the needs of an increasing population in our town.

There is still much to do and some of the deprivation figures for parts of the town are still high and more needs to be done to tackle them.

However, things are beginning to happen in Winsford.

We are moving in the right direction, it will take time because as Winsford was neglected for such a long time, it is understandable we Winsfordians are sceptical, but the signs of better things to come are beginning to show.
