PERHAPS at last, those at Cheshire West and Chester Council responsible for the town planning of Northwich will take notice of the letters from a group of erudite local people, headed by Ewen Simpson of Whatcroft, about the disgraceful failure of the Barons Quay project so far.
A result of arrogance of a committee who can’t see the wood for the trees - any fool can see that not developing the town’s unique assets is a recipe for disaster.
We now have to suffer daily, the sight from Witton Street, of the ugly, windowless black backsides of the hideous new buildings, which serve no purpose except to remind us of a poorly thought-out commercial failure from the word go, and a colossal loss of revenue as a result, to haunt the local ratepayers.
But then, when the public and press are disallowed admittance to council meetings, we all know who to blame and the reasons why.
