THE page two story in your February 1 edition is factually incorrect and was, I understand, based on information provided by Winsford Town Mayor Mike Kennedy.
The variety show at the Winsford Academy last Saturday featuring the Dave Egerton Band was the second variety show in Winsford in recent times.
The first variety show was put on at the Winsford Lifestyle Centre to a maximum capacity audience in 2010, in support of my Mayor’s charity and also featured the Dave Egerton Band and their musical director Tim Ashcroft.
Amongst the artists performing that night was an array of local talent including Paige, Will Garner and Emm Daniells, Krystal and her backing group, Out of the Blue, the Winsford Academy singers, Wilson Minds, Rob Metcalf, Beth Coats, Milly Whittle and last but not least, Be MInor, an up-and-coming girl band.
The show was produced by Damon Horrill and compered by local DJ Mark Curzon.
Arthur Smith the Radio 4, BBC TV performer, stand-up comedian and satirical writer, who was the principal guest artist, did two hilarious sessions and afterwards was very complimentary about the musical talent on show.
