NORTHWICH is still a town of smiling, friendly people.

A pity that as soon you arrive off the bus and pass through Weaver Square, with its row upon row of empty shops.

As you enter Witton Street, with its traditional attractive black and white older buildings - so much a part of the character of the town - and glance to your left, all you see is the hideous undecorated black expanse of buildings, that is the backside of Cheshire West and Chester Council’s new shopping and entertainment development.

What a disappointment to townsfolk and visitors alike.
