WHAT is Mrs May up to in wanting to bring back grammar schools?

You would think that there are more pressing needs in sorting out the deep crisis in the NHS and the delivery of social care for our elderly.

Then there is of course the matter of our exit from the EU.

Why does she want to start a war with the teaching profession?

Has she not had enough with the junior doctors?

As an ex-grammar school pupil, I firmly believe that it is a failed and divisive system and it has no place in an equitable state educational programme.

All my five children were educated at the Hartford High Comprehensive School and the four who survived all obtained good university degrees.

Of the local authority-managed schools in CWAC, 93 per cent are rated good or outstanding.

Currently no CWAC schools are considered inadequate by Ofsted.

There are no grammar schools in Cheshire West and Chester and we don’t need any.

We don’t want division at 11 years of age, we just need proper investment in schools.
