‘I DON’T usually write letters to newspapers (I’m not often ‘Mrs Angry’) but I feel that some of the misinformation in the article about the roads upgrade in Middlewich should be corrected.

These roadworks have been planned for some time – and I don’t think you’ll find too many people in Middlewich who think they are unnecessary!

The fact that the timing of them has been carefully planned to coincide with the school holidays when traffic is, in theory, much lighter and also to ensure that the roads in the centre of the town are in better shape in time for a major event should be welcomed, not criticised.

And as for Councillor Williams’ objection to Middlewich Town Council’s decision to celebrate the Tour of Britain coming through the town, I must say I do not understand it.

I’m not into cycling but even I can see that this is good for Middlewich.

We may not catch the live TV coverage but it is an event that could help put us on the map and many schoolchildren and residents will be delighted to get the opportunity to enjoy it.

He appears to be misinformed about the town council’s activities and if he does not understand the decision can I suggest he joins the committee.

If this is impossible for him then he must question the minutes at the appropriate time.

Let’s enjoy the event – and less of the misinformation.
