THE recent disagreement between GPs and the government reached a climax on Question Time on January 14 when the BBC appeared to select another biased audience, most of whom had some connection with NHS.

There appeared to be very few of the general public to give their opinion.

The public have been bombarded with stories of inadequate treatment and problems of giving birth at weekends.

I have had two minor operations during December, the second just before Christmas.

The care and treatment I received was first class. When I read of the calamities occurring I think Leighton is a jewel in the NHS crown.

I was brought up in the 30s and 40s when we had to register with a panel doctor and join the hospital fund, a far cry from what we have today.
