HAVING read your article in this week’s Winsford & Middlewich Gaurdian regarding trained nurses I just had to write this email to you.
I am a retired staff nurse with over 30 years’ service. I keep hearing it time and time again about traditional ways of nursing.
How on earth can you learn nursing sitting at a desk in a university? A nurse’s role is to be on a ward caring for the sick.
If you don’t possess excellent inter-personal skills you shouldn’t be a nurse.
Our NHS boasted the best nursing and hospitals in Europe, if not the world, where has it gone wrong?
Well for more than 40 years government after government have stated that they would overhaul the NHS basically they have destroyed it.
Bring back matrons who know what they are doing. Nursing is about caring for the sick not achieving targets.
Surely nursing is not about profit making and shouldn’t be run like a business.
MRS MARY CARTER, Retired SRN
