Saturday, July 26th
MAIN feature of a very competitive Saturday programme is the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot where Aidan O’Brien bids to maintain his stranglehold on the season’s Group 1s by saddling three of the eight runners, including hot favourite Duke of Marmalade. It’s tempting fate, I know, but I am going to oppose the Irish wizard and take Mick Channon’s Youmzain to land the £480,000-plus first prize.
Yesterday’s nap, Pure Poetry duly obliged making it four winners out of the last five nominations and I hope to round off a highly successful week in similar style this evening with Oarsman in the 7.40 at Salisbury.
Selections
Newmarket: 5.10 Red Icon
Ascot: 4.20 Youmzain
York: 2.10 Spring Tale
Newcastle: 5.05 Thornaby Green
Lingfield: 7.55 El Fuser
Salisbury: 7.40 Oarsman (nap)
