Why should I watch..?
Expect goals, and lots of them.
Winsford have conceded as many as they have scored this term, while West’s league matches have yielded 54 in total - an eye-watering average of more than five game.
Blues will start Saturday’s contest buoyed by finding the net half-a-dozen times during a midweek win at lowly Burscough, while Steve Settle’s men have won their past five fixtures in all competitions.
They have also prevailed in their past three meetings with Winsford, including a first ever win at St Luke’s Barton Stadium last season.
What they’ve said
“West love going forward as much as we do.
“For that reason it’s a game I’m excited for because I think it will be open and therefore great to watch.
“We won’t change our approach though, and I’m pretty sure they’ll adopt the same attitude”.
Lee Duckworth, Winsford United player-manager
Numbers game
Player-manager Lee Duckworth’s half-time speeches appear to be affective; Blues have scored more than a third of their 26 goals this season in a quarter-hour spell immediately after the interval
Man to keep an eye on
Danny Kerr
A switch to the centre of Winsford’s defence in the absence of Chris Middleton has proven to be an effective one.
He has formed a solid barrier alongside youngster Will Foster, although he may be asked to demonstrate his versatility again this weekend with James Rothwell unavailable to line up alongside Ryan Hopper in midfield.
Winsford team news
Robbie Hatton is unavailable after being selected to represent Cheshire FA in an Association of Northern Counties fixture against Lancashire.
Midfielder James Rothwell is away, so Winsford’s player-manager Lee Duckworth will be forced to make at least two changes to a side that started at Burscough.
Attacking duo Michael Koral (thigh) and Jordan Johnson (knee) are continuing their recovery from injury, as is Danny Hudson (hamstring).
Scott Taylor is not ready to return yet either.
