WINSFORD’S FA Cup adventure ended against opponents who had put 15 goals without reply past previous foes this term in just two matches.
Blues’ back-line proved to be less permeable, but their Evo-Stik Northern Premier League opponents still had enough quality to ease into the next round.
They led when Kamahl Whight finished smartly after debutant Phil Drummond had failed to deal with a bouncing ball.
The hosts’ best spell followed, goalkeeper Tom Read diverting Adam Foy’s header to safety from Andy Keogh’s cross.
His next save was worth a goal, making up for a poor clearance that went straight to Brian Matthews be reacting brilliantly to turn the attacker’s resulting shot onto the bar as he back-pedalled.
Danny Egan went close with headers, first when Wayne Welbeck turned provider and then when John Bennett’s free kick found him in space.
Trafford were better after the break, Andy Smart sending a free kick narrowly wide before Whight sent shots against the woodwork twice in quick succession.
They made safe their passage to the next stage when Michael Oates scored with 15 minutes left.
Winsford Jones (GK), Blair, Maynard, Dickson, Drummond, Foy, Bennett, Keogh (Toole 64), Matthews (McDonnell 77), Egan (Hurst 66), Welbeck. Subs not used Duckworth, Hevingham. Attendance 116.
