Brian Matthews scored a hat-trick for Winsford in Saturday’s record league success.
WINSFORD turned record breakers to avenge a seven-goals thrashing by the same opponents last term.
Blues bagged their biggest goals tally for a match in the North West Counties League, coming from behind after former front man Lee Madin had punished Lois Maynard’s defensive error.
However once Brian Matthews restored parity with the first of his three goals, there was to be only one winner.
His drive from distance doubled the hosts’ tally although he saved the best strike until last, an emphatic volley making it 3-1 before half time.
Substitute Wayne Welbeck combined with Danny Egan to tee up Andy Keogh for Blues’ fourth, Egan scoring his first for the club soon afterwards.
Matthews turned provider for Welbeck as Winsford ran riot, then the latter assisted Keogh to complete his brace.
Welbeck completed the scoring from John Bennett’s pass.
