WHARTON Cons are on course to end a near two-decade wait to be crowned the best club in the county.
Thomas Vickers’ men reached the semi finals of the Cheshire County Bowling Association’s Brunner Cup, sending out last year’s runners-up Sale Excelsior.
Stockport-based Victoria, conquerors of Barnton team Beech Tree, now block their path to the final next month.
The men from the Tin Mission were last victors in the final back in 1993.
