STEVE Warburton’s stoppage time winner pinched the points for Winsford at the end of a breathless encounter at the weekend.
His looping header at the back post from Rick Bailey’s cross settled the outcome of a contest in which Blues had trailed three times against Silsden.
They led too with a quarter hour left.
Ian Street’s men gifted the opener to Joe Gaughan on four minutes, but drew level midway through the first half when Bailey assisted Matthew Ward who finished smartly.
Daniel Husband restored the visitors’ lead off a corner, but it took too minutes for Bailey to pick out Daley Woods and he drilled in Winsford’s second leveller.
Sloppy defending on the stroke of half time left Blues behind again when Daniel McNulty’s header sneaked through goalkeeper Andy Jones’ hands.
Bailey turned scorer soon after the break to make it 3-3, Blues’ hopes boosted further when John Douglas was sent off as punishment for two yellow cards.
Ward’s cute finish put the hosts ahead, but they were shocked with two minutes left when Gaughan converted a penalty after Woods was judged to have handled.
The home fans were sent home happy when Warburton met Bailey’s latest assist three minutes into injury time, leading to a second expulsion for Silsden when Gaughan saw red for dissent.
It left Street’s side seventh in the Premier Division before last night’s trip to Runcorn Linnets, 12 points adrift of the top six finish the manager craved.
