WINSFORD United start the New Year focused solely on making sure they survive in the North West Counties League’s top tier.
Manager Tony Ledwards told the Guardian that Blues were aware they faced a fight to stay in the Premier Division if they did not start winning more matches.
“Every one [point] is precious,” he said.
“I think sometimes I have been reluctant to gamble because I wanted us to hold on to what he had and that’s the mind-set you have when you’re at the wrong end of the table.
“It’s important psychologically not to slip into a losing habit as that can be soul destroying over a period of time.
“There’s a lot of hard work still to do and we’re under no illusion about the size of our task but I’ve certainly seen enough on the pitch to be confident from here on in.”
He hopes to start by guiding Winsford to a win at Squires Gate this weekend, kick off 3pm.
Creator-in-chief Alex Burns (ankle) will be missing on Saturday as he continues his recovery from injury, but otherwise Ledwards has most of his squad to pick from.
