Terry Murphy resigns as manager at Winsford United

TERRY Murphy has resigned as manager at Winsford United less than three months after taking over.

The former Middlewich Town supreme told Blues’ players he could not finish the job he had started at Barton Stadium after Saturday’s FA Cup draw at Flixton.

“I’m gutted,” he said.

“There are one or two things I need to attend to at home which are far more important than football.

“It’s something that has come to light since I agreed to do the job, otherwise I would not have come to Winsford.”

Mike Alcock will pick the team for tomorrow's FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round replay against Flixton.

Blues will delay an announcement on Murphy's permanent successor until Wednesday.
