Winsford United host two pre-season friendlies this week

WINSFORD United will kick off their pre-season preparations at Knights Grange tomorrow, Tuesday.

Blues, who were denied a first outing at Buckley Town at the weekend because the Welsh outfit’s pitch was under water, take on Cheshire League team Whitchurch Alport.

“A match at last,” said assistant manager Mike Alcock.

“It’s been a frustrating week with first the Stalybridge game being lost and then the rain wrecking any chance of play on Saturday.”

Steve Burr’s Blue Square North promotion hopefuls were due at Barton Stadium last week, but the pitch was not ready.

Another Cheshire League side, Crewe FC, are Blues’ guests at Knights Grange on Thursday.

Both matches at the Winsford sports complex are due to kick off at 6.30pm.

A trip to Connahs Quay Nomads follows on Saturday week before Tarporley Victoria visit Barton Stadium the following Tuesday, August 4, kick off 7.45pm.
