JIMMY Harrop answered the question - it was his time to shine!
Signs were showing he was due to land a big prize in an individual competition after enjoying success in team events with Wharton Cons.
When the last eight in the Roberts Bakery Cup gathered at Crosstown Bowling Club in Knutsford on Friday, it was Harrop who got his hands on the trophy for the first time.
It rewards a move he made to call time early on his campaign last year during a loss of form and return to the sport at the start of this season.
He decided he was playing a game he first tried as a boy too often, and packed away his woods.
But upon his return he rediscovered top form quickly to reach the last eight in both of the Mid-Cheshire Bowling Association’s premier singles competitions.
And that form continued as he won one of those competitions for the first time.
He opened with a rare win against clubmate Alan Vickers, the 21-11 success putting him through to the semi-finals against Jason Cornes.
A win by five chalks against the two-times winner set up a showdown with Dave Watters in the final which he won 21-19.
