WINSFORD’S cricketers remain in danger of being relegated after suffering a fifth successive defeat in the Cheshire League on Saturday.

They restricted Westminster Park, the visitors to Knights Grange to 145 all out thanks to the efforts of Ben Crellin (4-37) and Daniel Holtom (3-45) with support from Mark Sergeant (2-26).

However the hosts folded for 46 to suffer a heavy 99-run reverse, with opener Marcus Whyatt (22) the only batsman to offer any resistance.

Winsford sit 31 points clear of the Division Four drop zone ahead of a trip to back-markers Trafford this weekend.

It was a better afternoon for Winsford’s seconds, who won by five wickets against their Mossley counterparts in a rain-affected Division C fixture.

Andy Cooper and Paul Hough both claimed four wickets to bundle out the hosts for 70.

The former, also club chairman, then contributed an unbeaten 36 to a winning reply that closed on 71-5.

Hough (11no) was at the crease with him.

Over Peover seconds are due at Knights Grange on Saturday.
