RETURNING Mike Dean made the difference for Winsford as they eased to a nine-wicket win at Audlem last weekend.

He took 4-22 from a dozen overs, helping dismiss the home team for 112 in the Cheshire League Division Four encounter.

David Bates (59no) and Devon Hughes (20) put on 61 for the first wicket before captain Mike Dickenson (28no) joined the former to take their side to victory in the 19th over.

They are back in action on Saturday week, May 20.

Winsford’s seconds went down by eight wickets at home to their Aston counterparts.

The hosts made it to 151-8 at Knights Grange, where veteran Mark Skellon (88) anchored their innings with support from Andy Cooper (20) and Colin Dean (17).

Aston needed all of their allotted overs to reach the finish line, led there by Ethan Bessell (96no).

Winsford’s attack toiled hard, with Kev Fitzpatrick (1-23 off 14 overs) and Paul Hough (1-54) taking the wickets to fall.

They head to Langley next on Saturday.
