WINSFORD Saxons, the defending champions, start a game at Sandbach Curshaws tonight knowing they will take over at the Crewe and District League summit if they avoid defeat.
They closed to within a point of leaders Sandbach Town following a 3-1 win over back-markers Winnington Avenue last Saturday.
James Cain, Charlie Hatton – his 13th goal of the campaign – and Greg Lumsden all scored for the hosts, who had been held to an unexpected draw by the Northwich-based outfit when the teams shared 10 goals in February.
Saxons head to third-placed Tarvin, whose five-match unbeaten run ended following a heavy defeat last time out, this Saturday.
