WINSFORD Saxons remain on course to retain the AJ Cooke Cup after cruising to this year’s final at the expense of Tarporley reserves at the weekend.

Perry Bircumshaw and Terry Cain scored doubles in a 6-0 win at Knights Grange, where Charlie Hatton and Robbie Hatton were also on target.

Their reward is a date with Winnington Avenue 1994 next month.

Saxons also received a boost in their bid to win the Crewe and District League title for a second successive season when table-toppers Sandbach Town lost at home to Tarvin.

The Winsford outfit, crowned as champions for the first time at the end of their debut campaign last year, trail the leaders by four points with three games in hand.

They host back-markers Winnington Avenue on Saturday, kick off 2pm.
