MEMBERS at Winsford Tennis Club believe last year was one of their best to date.
However a promising start to 2017 has left them hoping history can repeat.
Winsford A edged Nantwich A last weekend to secure top spot in the South and Mid Cheshire League’s Division Two at the end of their spring season.
Chris Mayoh, Simon Nuttall, Damian Cookson and Martin Stoilov were on court for a 5-3 victory – their fifth in succession.
The same quartet was in similarly impressive form last Sunday, when they whitewashed Congleton D to reach a knockout final.
Winsford B lost 6½-1½ at in-form Kelsall in Division Four last week.
Steve McCormack, Bill Lawrie, Mike Bee and Chris Mundie completed the visitors’ quartet.
The club’s senior players have started practice sessions at Knights Grange every Monday, from 5.30pm.
Ladies are welcome to play.
