AMONG the targets for 2017 at Winsford Tennis Club is a desire to field a ladies’ team in the South and Mid Cheshire Summer League.
A mixed quartet enjoyed a successful campaign last time around, posting an unbeaten record to finish first in Division Two.
However the committee at the Knights Grange-based outfit would like to take the next step and enter an all-female side into the competition.
“We made a lot of progress last year, which was one of our most successful ever on the court,” said chairman Chris Mayoh.
“The core of a ladies’ team is in place already, but we’d like to have half-a-dozen players to call on before we make a commitment.”
Winsford’s success continued until the end of the winter season, with their men’s teams topping the tables in both Division Three and Division Five.
