WINSFORD United will be boosted by the return of defender Will Foster this afternoon as they attempt to extend a winning sequence to five matches.

He sat out last weekend’s 3-1 win at Irlam.

However if Chris Middleton succumbs to a facial injury that prompted his substitution during the interval of that game, then the youngster will take his place.

Player-manager Lee Duckworth must decide between Matthew Green, who impressed on his debut seven days ago, or returning Andy Jones in goal.

Danny Kerr and Scott Taylor are both unavailable, but front man Jordan Johnson is back following a holiday.

Blues will be wary of Squires Gate, who had been unbeaten in four games – including a win against leaders Bootle and a credible draw with promotion-hopefuls Runcorn Town – before losing to Maine Road last weekend.

Duckworth said: “They’ve upset a few of the big boys, and we need to be respectful of what they can do.

“The pitch up there is usually a good one, so hopefully we can play the way we like to and can continue this run we’re on.

“It’s frustrating we’ve had to wait seven days to play again; when you’re playing as well as we have been, you’re desperate for the games to come think and fast.”

In-form Kyle Riley, who has 19 goals to his name for Blues this season, has scored in each of the past five matches.
