SPARKS made a significant step towards securing a place in the Mid Cheshire Super League’s top flight when they whitewashed Raptors in their latest match.
Ray Worthington, John Perry and Dave Southall were all in fine form for the victors.
Victoria lead the way in qualifying group one following a 9-1 success against Cobras, while Tigers occupy second spot following a 10-0 thrashing of Wolves.
Valiants are well-placed in group two, taking over top spot following a whitewash of Falcons.
Peter Williams, Michael Boden and Alan Lenton were their star turns.
A battle to finish in the top three, and with it the reward of playing in the super league’s second tier, is a fierce one with Bears – conquerors of fellow challengers Hawks last week – close behind.
Sticklebacks, who won at Winsford, have a chance too.
They take on Bears in a potential decider during the final round of fixtures.
