Why should I watch..?

Blues will be hoping to transfer their form in the FA Cup to another knockout competition when they visit North West Counties League rivals Runcorn.

Lee Duckworth’s side exited at the first qualifying round stage following a 2-1 defeat at home to Whitby on Monday.

They guarantee goals: eight competitive matches in league and cup have yielded 33 – an average of more than four per game.

Numbers game

The teams have met previously in the FA Vase, when Runcorn won a third-round clash at Barton Stadium in 2012.

In the seven meetings since, Blues have won four times.

Man to keep an eye on

Louis Johnson

The central defender, recruited from Whitchurch Alport, impressed in both FA Cup meetings with Whitby last weekend.

He strengthens a back-line depleted by absences through injury, and made Blues look more solid against higher-ranked opponents.

Winsford team news

Winsford boss Lee Duckworth will check on a number of bumps and bruises sustained during Monday’s FA Cup replay against Whitby before picking his side.

Defensive duo Adam Bayley and Sam Parr (both ankle) are ruled out by injury, as is wide man Danny Hudson (hamstring).

Liam Baker has departed Barton Stadium this week to join neighbours Barnton.
