AFTER nine successive wins, Winsford’s men are closing in on a return to the South and Mid Cheshire League’s top flight.
A 6-2 success at home to closest rivals Nantwich B on Thursday, during which Alan Ward, Martin Stoilov, Alex Lerczak and Mark Abbiss made up their quartet, leaves them six points clear at the top of Division Two.
Winsford B’s lead in Division Four is a single point following a 6½-1½ victory at home to Tarporley B.
Abbiss and Stoilov joined Chris Mayoh and Damian Cookson on court at Knights Grange last Tuesday.
Pacesetting Winsford C had to work harder for maximum points at Nantwich D in Division Five, securing a 5-3 win thanks to Steve Abbiss, Mark Garratt, Steve McCormack and Mike Bee.
Winsford’s newly-formed mixed team remain unbeaten following a whitewash of Nantwich C on Sunday.
Lerczak and Mayoh joined forces with Julia Kimpton and Jackie Penn during a Division Two encounter.
