Cheshire West and Chester Council's backing for Northwich taxi association is a good thing

THE backing by Cheshire West and Chester Council of a taxi association in Northwich is a great leap forward that will improve confidence in the local taxi industry and provide better value for money for passengers.

As grants designed to cap bus fare costs dry up, many more people are finding that taxis, especially if they are full, are providing much better value for money as well as providing a door-to-door service that buses simply cannot provide.

Understandably, there are still some who are a bit wary of individual taxi travel, especially at night.

Concerns ranging from unfamiliar or inexperienced drivers and unpredictable fares I hope can be resolved by this new taxi association as taxi licences become more prominent and fares clearly advertised.
