I HAD a wonderful year as Mayor of Middlewich, attending more than 160 different events in the town and surrounding areas.

I was lucky enough to have great support and raised way over what I had hoped to raise. My main charities were Cancer Research and the uniformed youth organisations in Middlewich.

Here is how the money was divided up: £3,000 to Cancer Research; £400 between our four schools; £300 between three Over 60s clubs; £300 to the British Legion Poppy Appeal; £200 between the youth of Middlewich Football Club and Middlewich Cricket Club; £ 3,440 between the Brownies, Guides, Cubs, Scouts, Boys Brigade, Fire Cadets, Wych Centre, Rose Fete and the Middlewich Youth Theatre, and £100 to our volunteer photographer for Middlewich. Total, £7,740.

As you see, it’s been distributed among the people of Middlewich. I would like to say thank you to those who joined in the many fund raising events I had. Special thanks also to the Guardian staff who came out and helped cover the events as well as letting me use your columns to promote them.
