I’ve now got no respect for the law

I HAVE read about poor John Barnes, let off at Northwich Magistrates on October 30.

He was found to be driving his BMW X5 without insurance, already had nine points on his licence, pleaded that he would have to employ a chauffeur, which which was not practicable given the irregular nature of his employment, so some star struck magistrate ‘let him off’.

One newspaper reported he earns up to £4,000 per week and lives in a £1m home on the Wirral. What a total miscarriage of justice, and we are supposed to respect the law. How can we?

And what about the rest of us mere mortals struggling to make ends meet and toe the line.

I call for this magistrate to resign, for they are obviously not up to the job and should not be sitting on the bench.

There was a comment from Jane Whitham of the road safely group Brake. She said it was ridiculous for the criminal justice system to let someone off a driving ban because it wasn’t an option to employ a chauffeur – what’s wrong with the bus?

Obviously if you are famous you can do whatever you want.

No doubt Mr Barnes has paid his lawyer/barrister handsomely to get him off.

I disagree, John Barnes attended at court unrepresented so he wouldn't have had to pay off anybody! Just a thought?

I have worked with people in the catering industry who have had 14 points on their license and reclaimed it in order to travel so why punish John Barnes because he is famous?

but i thought if you drove without insurance there is a minimum points penalty so he MUST loose his license no ifs or buts but obviously money talks in courts..... your honour.
